List of esolexicons on this and the Esolang Wiki.

An esolexicon is an esolang where the underlying language is remarkably non-esoteric but the syntax is. For example, my Draft:Eternal Xesolang Iclass Twithfour is an esolexicon while OpenBSD toaster isn't as it also has weird semantics.

What bothers me (AnalysisOfVariance) is the question: "What separates a weird but non-esoteric esolexicon from an esolang?", which opens an even bigger and messier question: "What is an esolang exactly?".

I made this list purely out of my own interest.

Now please note that even though some people don't consider esolexicons to be esolangs, they are not bad or evil. And you are also not a bad esolanger for making esolexicons.

If you make esolexicons, I don't hate you! I've even made some myself! I say you are still welcome in the esolang and esolanging community, because why should you not be?

Also, I'd say esolexicons are an endangered species now, practically extinct in the wild, and what took their place are AI slop languages that aren't even esoteric and very low-quality and low-effort slop languages.

We need more of you.

I remember I had a conversation about esolexicons with either User:PkmnQ or User:MarkFan8901 on IRC, I forgot who. I remember we were somehow in a conversation and I somehow pushed the topic into languages like Chef possibly being esolexicons, since Chef is kind of a non-esoteric stack-based language at heart. However, they raised the point that you wouldn't usually program non-esoteric languages the way you do in esolexicons, so that adds some semantic weirdness.
